All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: September 27, 1972 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Billings Youth Dies After Auto Accident Funeral services were held September 24, Sunday, for Mark Billings, 17, of Trout, who was the victim of a truck-motorcycle collision Friday. His father, Claude Billings, is a native of Atlanta and he has several relatives in Winn Parish. Billings was operating a motorcycle on U. S. 84 two miles west of Trout Friday when the collision occurred. A passenger on the motorcycle, Harold Bird, died Saturday in a Monroe hospital. Services for Billings were held in the Search Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Zimnerebner and the Rev. Aaron P. Edwin officiating. Burial was in the Atlanta Cemetery. In addition to his father, he is survived by his mother of Trout, four brothers, Max Billings, Trout, Benny Billings, Boston, Mass., Bruce Billings, DeRidder, Jimmy Billings, Trout; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Dean, Mrs. Brenda Ford, Trout, Mrs. Jeneley Russell, Alexandria, Mrs. Donna McKenzie, Silsbee, Texas; his grandmothers, Mrs. Lena Barton, Wisner, and Mrs. Maggie Billings, Winnfield. Three of his aunts, Miss Evelyn Billings, Mrs. C. E. Sherwood, and Mrs. Roy Miller, live in Winnfield. Funeral services for Harold C. Bird were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Searcy Baptist Chgurch with Revs. Larry Ganey and Ernest Zimmerebner, officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery with arrangements by Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mayo Bird of Trout; one brother Clyde Bird of Trout; and his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Bird of Archie.
