Chandler A 55 year old resident of St. Maurice area was killed when his auto left the highway overturning twice about 12:35 a.m. Sunday, August 19, near Wyatt's Store on U. S. 71 in St. Maurice. State police here said that Albert Bishop was pronounced dead of a broken neck when he arrived at a Natchitoches hospital. They said that his automobile was headed south on U. S. 71 when it went off the right side of the road, crossed to the left, rolling over twice and stopping upside down. The vehicle traveled 336 feet before coming to a stop, Troopers added. Last rites were conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Maurice Methodist Church with the Rev. H. B. Gorum of Natchitoches officiating. Burial was in the St. Maurice Cemetery. Mr. Bishop was an employee of Doyle's Sawmill in St. Maurice. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Minter Bishop, and one stepson, Phil Embery, St. Maurice; three sisters,, Mrs. Dale Chandler, Winnfield; Mrs. L. D. Dorton and Mrs. D. L. Smith, both of Galveston, Texas; three brothers, Archie Bishop, Galveston, Dave Bishop, Brawley, Calif., and Floyd Bishop, Ashdown, Ark. All members of the family were able to attend the last rites with the exception of Mrs. Dorton of Galveston.
