OGDEN BLAKE IN CAR WRECK, DIES FROM INJURIES

Ward 10 Citizens Have Head-on Collision Last Saturday

D.O. Blake, 42 year-old Ward Ten farmer died at the local clinic late Saturday
afternoon from injuries received in a head-on collision with Willie Taylor,
22, also of Ward Ten. According to reports the accident occurred about three
o'clock several miles north of Calvin on the Friendship road. Mr. Blake and
his two daughters, Corrine, 16 and Thelma, 14, were driving south toward
Calvin in a light model-T Ford. Taylor was driving a large truck. The
collision occurred it was stated as Taylor came over a hill around a curve.
The Blake car was knocked into a ditch and the Taylor truck landed on top of
it.

Mr. Blake was brought to the Winnfield clinic where he died late that
afternoon. His two daughters, both students in the Calvin school, suffered
injuries as also did Mr. Taylor, the driver of the truck. Thelma received a
broken arm and bruises on her legs and body. Corrine was cut on the head and
bruised over her body.

Mr. Taylor is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Taylor of Ward Ten. Two others on
the truck, Mr. Wade Burnum and Mr. Robertson were reported slightly bruised.

Funeral services for Mr. Blake were held at Yankee Springs Baptist church
Sunday with the pastor, Rev. Rufus Kitchingham, in charge. The deceased was
considered a progressive farmer and citizen of Ward Ten. He was a member of
the Yankee Springs church and the Masonic lodge, which organization conducted
the last rites at the grave.

He is survived by his widow and two daughters and four brothers, Wyatt Blake
of Delhi, Mose Blake of Calvin, and Jim and Nath Blake of Goldonna.
