Mrs. Mattie Boddie Died Tuesday, Sept. 25

Mrs. Mattie Boddie, age 78 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl
Barker of Ruston, La., Tuesday, September 25.

She is survived by six children, four sons, two daughters, and a host of
sorrowing relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Atlanta, Wednesday
afternoon, Sept. 26, at 4:00 o'clock.

The Rev. E. W. Day of Hortman, assisted by Rev. C. C. Wier of Winnfield,
conducted the services.

Mr. Day spoke of what a "Saint in Israel" Grandmother Boddie had been, how
she had inspired him in his work as a minister when he came to Atlanta,
his first charge.
