Bonnette was a native of Winnfield and a retired welder for the city of Alexandria. He also worked as a welder for Western Geophysical Co., for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include one son, Jewel Major Bonnette, Jr. of Shreveport; J. D. Bonnette, Howard Bonnette, Ray Bonnette, and McArthur Bonnette, all of Winnfield; two sisters, Viola Kelly and Gracie Jennings, both of Winnfield, and two grandchildren. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of John Kramer and Son. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.
