John J. Herring of First Baptist Church of Christ Scientists, where she was a member, officiated. Burial was at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport. Miss Boone diedat Pierremont Heritage Manor Nursing Home on Friday, November 23, 1990, after a long illness. She was born December 29, 1901 at Lufkin, Texas, had been a resident of Winnfield where she taught high school English and was employed at the Winnfield News-American newspaper, and she was a long time resident of Shreveport. Miss Boone attended La. State Normal College (now NSU), La. Tech University and La. State University. She served two years in the 8th U. S. Air Force during World War II and was the person sending the teletype message to the U. S. that the war was over. She was employed at Shreve Memorial Library for 20 years and was named head Librarian in 1946 and continued to serve there until her retirement in 1965. She was a member of the Milku Club, the YWCA and the Quota Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Augustus and Bama Sullivan Boone; her brother, Lionell A. Boone of Winnfield; and by two sisters, Mrs. Ernestine Delvalle and Mrs. Elizabeth Dauman. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Zelma Houston and one brother in law, G. P. Dauman, both of Shreveport; also six nephews and one niece.
