Billy Joe Bowen

Funeral services for Billy Joe Bowen, 54, of Colfax, were held Saturday 
afternoon in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Alexandria with the 
Rev. Charles Floyd officiating.  Burial was in Colfax Cemetery.

Mr. Bowen died of a sudden illness while on a hunting trip at Coochie Brake 
near Atlanta Friday morning.  He was a veteran of World War II and was a 
retired professional musician and accountant.  He was the son of former Grant 
Parish Sheriff, the late H. Gillis Bowen.

Survivors include his wife, Corrine; two sons, Randy Bowen of Winnfield and 
Mark Bowen, Colfax; one daughter, Suzanne Lasyone of Colfax; one brother, James 
A. Bowen, Colfax; one sister, Mildred B. Randolph, also of Colfax; and five 
grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Elvin Wren, Charles A. Rhodes, Sr., Charles A. Rhodes, Jr., 
Deannie Dean, Bob Kennedy, and Oscar Hyde.
