Jim Bowen, Wyatt, Killed In Auto Accident Monday

Jim Bowen, Jackson Parish police juror, was killed Monday in a highway
collision near Krotz Springs while on his way to the Louisiana Police Jury
Association convention.  Mr. Bowen, of Wyatt, was a cousin to Charlie
Walsworth, Winn clerk of court, and Miley Walsworth, Winn sheriff's deputy.

Mr. Bowen was in a car with four other police jurors from Jackson and Lincoln
Parishes.  They were identified as Leon Pesnell of Ruston, Walter Anderson of
Quitman, Dewey Deese and Cecil Garrett, both of Jonesboro. ________ and
Anderson were hospitalized in Baton Rouge.

Garrett was reported to have suffered eye and head injuries and Deese head
injuries, while Pesnell was shaken up.

According to state police, the accident occurred when a truck turned across
the highway to stop at a caf‚.

A three year old child riding in the truck was reported taken to an Opelousas
hospital.
