Final Rites For Ely H. Box Held Here December 16

Ely H. Box, 73, of 8916 Acacia Lane, Shreveport, died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 15, in the Shreveport Veterans Hospital after an illness of about three
months.

A veteran of World War I, Mr. Box was a masonry contractor in Shreveport
before moving to Winnfield where he resided for about 20 years before
returning to Shreveport after his retirement two years ago.

He was a member of Laurel Heights Baptist Church of Winnfield.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in
Winnfield with the Rev. C. C. Martin, pastor of Laurel Heights Baptist Church,
officiating.  Burial was in the Jonesboro cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, M. M. Box and James Box, both of Shreveport; one
brother, Jake Box of Winnfield; five grandchildren, Roger, Carole, Ronnie,
Marian and Jimmye Lou Box, all of Shreveport.
