M. Box, 69, Succumbs After Long Illness Funeral rites for J. M. Box, 69 year old Winnfield man who died at 2 p.m. Saturday December 25, 1965 in the Veterans Hospital at Alexandria after a long illness, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hixson Funeral Home chapel. Mr. Box was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish, a retired auto mechanic, and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lena Dempsey Box; two daughters, Mrs. Darrow Parker of Winnfield and Mrs. Eugene Temple of Baton Rouge and five grandchildren. Officiating at the services was the Rev. L. G. Shaw. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Montgomery.
