Boyett, a retired printer and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away May 30, 2013 at The Carpenter House. Born in Winnfield in 1924, he was the son of deputy sheriff Robert E. Boyett who was killed in the line of duty in 1926. He and his brother spent the next nine years in the Masonic Home for Children in Alexandria. Later they lived with an uncle on a farm until they both joined the service. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sgt. James R. Boyett. He was a Naval dive bomber radioman-gunner in World War II. He was part of the seismic survey of Naval Petrolem reserves in Alaska. He was standing radio watch when the message of the bombing of Hiroshima was received. In 1948 he joined the Air Force and became an aerial photographic officer during the Korean War. He is survived by his son Mike Boyett of Pensacola, son Scott Boyett of New Orleans, and daughter Brenda Boyett Keith of Baton Rouge. Seven grandchildren, Matt Keith, Michael Keith, Iraq veteran Andrew Keith, Todd Boyett, Ginger Thompson, Amye Boyett and Misty Sherman. Seven great grandchildren and nieces Julie Roy and Susie Hodge.
