Boyett DODSON - Services for Herman H. Boyett will be at 2 p.m. today in Antioch Bibleway Church near Dodson, with the Revs. Elton Gunter, Kenneth Stanfill, Ronnie Taylor and Rayford Higgs officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Creek Cemetery near Dodson, under direction of Southern, Winnfield. Boyett, 83, of Dodson died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Willis Knighton Medical Center, Shreveport. He was a longtime Winn Parish businessman. He was born in Cypress Creek community. He helped found Winn State Bank, served 16 years as a member of the police jury, was owner of Boyett Grocery Store for 43 years and was also owner of Boyett Land and Timber Co. He was director of the Antioch Bibleway Church near Dodson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lana Jean Boyett. Survivors include his wife, Opal Temple Boyett of Dodson; two sons, Don H. Boyett of Natchitoches and Von Boyett of Dodson; four daughters, Mitzi Smith, Jill Q. Boyett, Kayla Nelson and Fonda Chandler, all of Dodson; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Caskey, Steve Bates, Michael Boyett, Kenny Ray Higgs, Don Price, Philip Chandler, Kenneth Williams and Gurvy Gunter. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services today in the church. Memorials may be made to the Cypress Creek Cemetery Fund, Dodson, LA.
