All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 20, 1936 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Services Held Sunday For Suicide Victim Clotile Boyett, 16 year old Pollock high school senior, died from a self- inflicted gunshot wound at Dry Prong, La., late Saturday, according to Dr. A. J. Morat of Colfax, Grant Parish Coroner who conducted the investigation. The girl was attending a school rally at Dry Prong, according to Dr. Morat, when she left a crowd of companions and sent to the automobile of Del Brunson, deputy sheriff and took his gun from the car, where he had left it. She walked down the road, Dr. Morat said and fired once just to the right of her right breast, the bullet penetrating her body. The weapon was a .38 caliber pistol. She was quoted as telling companions that she wanted to die and was said to have left a note addressed to her father, the contents of which were not made public. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Boyett, Pollock; two sisters, Winifred Boyett and Gwendolyn Boyett, of Pollock. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Friendship Church near Fishville. About two thousand persons attended. Her high school class attended in a body and acted as pallbearers. The Rev. J. O. Fogleman officiated assisted by the Rev. A. M. Funderburk and the Rev. Jasper Brown. The unfortunate girl was a native of Winn Parish and resided here about four years ago with her parents. Among the relatives and friends from Winnfield attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Boyett and family, Mrs. C. M. Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Boyett and family, Mrs. W. J. Walker and family, Miss Ruth McGinty, Misses Bessie and Rosa Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Boyett. Among other relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Boyett of Shreveport, Clarence and Floris Cook of Houston, Texas, Dr. Roy Boyett of Jacksonville, Texas, Mrs. Cook and I. R. Hammett of Baton Rouge.
