L. Boyett Here Saturday Last Rites Conducted At Baptist Church Sunday Mrs. Horace L. Boyett, 51 years, 11 months, and 20 days of age, died at a local clinic Saturday morning at 3 o'clock after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. H. H. McBride in charge. He was assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, and by the Rev. Dewey Mercer, a nephew of the deceased and pastor of an Oak Grove Church. During the ceremony, Miss Virginia Slaughter of Louisiana College sang the beautiful hymn, "In The Garden". Acting as pallbearers were Lee Grigsby, W. U. Drewett, N. L. Horton, Matt Milam, A. W. Berdon, Joe Mitchell, Harold DeBray, and John Emerson. Interment was in the family cemetery several miles east of Winnfield. Born in Starkville, Miss., Ida Ingram, came to this parish with her parents when a young girl and was later married to Mr. Horace L. Boyett. She became a member of the Baptist Church during her youth and at the time of her death belonged to the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. She was also a member of the Women's Circle of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving the deceased are her husband, Horace L. Boyett; two sons and four daughters: C. J. Boyett, Shreveport; H. L. Boyett, Ft. Benning, Ga.; Mrs. Jack Norwood, Texas City, Texas; Margorie Doyle Boyett, Louisiana College; and Fern and Melba Boyett, Winnfield. She also leaves three brothers and four sisters: J. H. J. M., and J. T. Ingram, Winnsboro, La.; Mrs. Charlie Thompson, Sikes; Mrs. H. Porter, Winnfield; Mrs. D. O. Mercer, Sterling City, Texas; and Mrs. F. L. Smith, Winnsboro, La.
