All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 27, 1938 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Are Held For Mrs. Ellen Brady Beloved Resident of Atlanta Succumbs in Shreveport Hospital Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 22, 1938, for Mrs. Ellen Brady of Atlanta, La. She died at a Shreveport hospital where she had been for several days. Services were conducted by the Rev. Otto Hughes with interment in the Mars Hill Cemetery. Edmonds Funeral Home directed the burial. Mrs. Brady was born January 20, 1867.. One day before she died she was 71 years old. Fifty-five years of her life she had been a church member. In 1882 she was married to Mr. John Brady and to them were born ten children. One infant died and the remaining four daughters and five sons are all living and married. All were present at the funeral. "Aunt" Ellen Brady was a great lover of church, Sunday School, and people. She had a kind word for everyone. Surviving are her four sons and five daughters, Ranel Brady, Lavelle Brady, Atlanta, La.; Ray Brady, Verda; Alon Brady, Morganza, La.; Mrs. Irene McLain, Mrs. Tamar Avant, Atlanta, La.; Mrs. Cleva Bailey, Natchitoches, La.; Mrs. Lois Avant, Verda, La.. She also leaves thirty-four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Flower girls were fourteen granddaughters, Lucy and Helen Baily, Lillie, Murel, Katherine, Elender, Velma Avant, Laverne McLain, Veta, Dorthy, Elsa, Elaine, Hazel, and Lucille Brady. Pallbearers were grandsons, Nathan and Vaughan Avant, Atlanta, La.; Harvey Brady, Verda, La.; Richard and Harrison McLain, Atlanta, La.; and John Bailey, Natchitoches, La.
