All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Clay Brand Dead Mrs. Clay Brand, age 24 years, died at the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria on April 13th, 1925, where she had gone for an operation some few weeks ago. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gorham of our town. She leaves a large number of relatives and friends who will mourn her death, her husband, Clay Brand, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gorham, four brothers and four sisters. The funeral was held at West Union Cemetery by Rev. J. D. Kitchenham. Among the relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Leary of Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Brand of Verda, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Erskins of Sikes, and Mr. and Mrs. Hannan Sayes of Vicks. (Note: buried at Gorhamtown Cemetery, Joyce; never before have I heard or read of Gorhamtown Cemetery referred to as West Union; Briley's lists her as Florence Evelyn Gorham Brand, wife of E. C., b. Dec. 1900, d. April 15, 1925)
