All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 8, 1968 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Louis Brand, 65, Dies; Rites Held Saturday Funeral services for Louis Dolton Brand, 65, of Sikes, former postmaster at Sikes and retired railroad depot agent, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Sikes Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie James officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield with Masonic graveside rites performed by Rosemary Lodge No. 278 of Sikes. Mr. Brand died Thursday, February 1, 1968 in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Heflin and a member of the Sikes Baptist Church. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Onie White Brand of Sikes; three daughters, Mrs. Jimmie Corry of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Estes Bozeman of Winnfield, and Mrs. Betty Creel of Sikes; two brothers, Clay Brand of Beaumont, Texas, and Francis Brand of Sikes; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Erskins of Sikes, Mrs. Trudie Simmons of Verda, and Mrs. Gladys Crain of Pollock; and ten grandchildren. Clarence Thompson, H. R. Forrest, Floyd Dulaney, Puckett Willis, Clyde Herring, and Harold Simmons, all members of Rosemary Lodge No. 278 of Sikes, acted as pallbearers. Among others participating in the graveside rites were Ed Gassiott, Eugene Love, and Stanley Branch.
