All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 11, 1948 Winn Parish Enterprise Former Winn Lumberman Dies In Alexandria Hiram Fielding Bradford, 75, prominent Alexandria business man and realtor for more than a quarter of a century, died Monday in Alexandria, following an illness of several months. Born at the old Bradfore place on upper Fish Creek in Grant Parish, "Hymie: as he was known throughout his life to most of his friends, entered the lumber business at Lofton, near Atlanta, Winn Parish in the early 1900s. After he had "cut out" at this location he moved to Winnfield in 1911 where he resided a few months in the house now owned and occupied by the W. E. Heards. He later moved to Jeff Davis Parish where he engaged in the lumber business, later returning to Alexandria. Mr. Bradofrd was marred to the former Miss Mary Frances Smith of near Beech Creek, Winn Parish, and was the father of four children, all of whom survive him. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters, three of whom are more than 80 years of age. They are T. N. Bradford, 87, Georgetown, Mrs. Sarah Goree, 84, Pollock, Mrs. Mary Taylor, 81, Houston, Texas, W. H. Bradford, Alexandria, Mrs. Mathilda Pyninger, Shreveport, and Mrs. Frances Rambo, Bossier City. Last rites were held at Greenwood Memorial Park, Tuesday. Attending from Winnfield were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Holmes, Sr.
