Last Rites Held For R. F. Brewer, 79, who died in a Winnfield hospital
Saturday morning, April 23, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home,
with Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. 
Burial was in Winnfield Cemetery.

Acting as pallbearers were Matt Milam, Jr., Louis Sholars, John Emerson, Lewis
Jenkins, Mack Branch, and Houston Gates.

Mr. Brewer was born in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish but had lived in Winn
Parish since childhood.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and was
a building contractor until his retirement about 10 years ago, specializing in
commercial and public school building.  He was an ardent fisherman.

Survivors are four sons, J. F. and H. F. Brewer of Baton Rouge, F. C. Brewer
of Houma, and J. A. Brewer of Salem, Ore.; four daughters, Mrs. S. L. Garrett,
Winnfield, Mrs. L. G. Neilson, Houston, Texas, Mrs. Frank Morris, Fort Meyers,
Fla., and Miss Frances Brewer, Atlanta, Ga; one brother, A. J. Brewer, Hudson
Community, and 16 grandchildren.
