All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 18, 1951 Winn Parish Enterprise Clyde Brewton Dies From Accident Injuries Winn's second traffic accident death in as many weeks took the life of Clyde Brewton, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brewton of the Coldwater community in Ward 10. Brewton died about 4 a.m. Monday as a result of injuries received in a log truck accident about noon last Friday. According to Winn Parish Sheriff C. M. Robinson, the accident occurred as Brewton, traveling toward Calvin on Friendship-Calvin road, lost control of his truck, loaded with logs. The accident occurred just inside Bienville Parish. Brewton was haulding logs for the Brewton-Taylor mill. He suffered a fractured skull, which proved fatal. He died in Winnfield General Hospital after being treated for the injuries. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday in Antioch Methodist Church in Ward 10 with Rev. C. M. Robinson officiating. He was assisted by Mrs. Mollie Carpenter. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery under direction of a funeral home in Jonesboro. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brewton; one brother, Robert Lee, 17; two (?) sisters, Irene, Betty Joe, and Nellie Faye. He is also survived by a host of relatives in Ward 10 and surrounding areas.
