Brewton, Life Long Citizen of Goldonna Dies At his home in Goldonna, March 14, 1927, E. L. Brewton, commonly called Uncle Ed, passed to his eternal reward, fully conscious, surrounded by his family he went confidently and peacefully just as he had prayed through his long illness that the end might come. Mr. Brewton was born in Brewton, Alabama, January 1, 1851 and when he was two years old his parents moved to Louisiana and settled near the site of the present family home at Goldonna, where our subject grew to manhood, becoming one of the most substantial and influential citizens of his community. He was a firm advocate of any progressive move for the betterment of the country along religious, educational, and civic lines and to his untiring efforts, the present school building and Baptist church house are largely due. In 1889 he united with the Baptist church and form that time until death he was a faithful, loyal member, the example of his good life exerting a lasting and potent influence upon those with whom he came in contact to such an extent that all who knew him loved him. In connection with his church activities, Mr. Brewton was active in the Masonic Lodge until his health failed about six years ago. January 15, 1871 Mr. Brewton and Miss Fannie Quarles were married and became parents of ___ children and though only six (survive) him all lived to be grown and (married). The surviving members ______________ family are his wife and fo ___ Jim, Eddie, John, and Walter, and two daughters, Mrs. S. S. ______________ and Mrs. Ben Shetley.
