L. Brewton Funeral services were held here Sunday afternoon for Mrs. L. L. Brewton, Sr., 55, who died Friday, November 23, in a Shreveport hospital following a short illness. The Rev. W. L. Holcomb officiated in services at the First Baptist Church in Winnfield and burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Elton Brewton, G. E. Brewton, Q. A. Brewton, Harper Terrill, Reggie Gates, J. J. Crippen, E. E. Crooks, Melton Hightower, Murray Duncan, and Harwell Allen. Mrs. Brewton, the former Hazel Evelyn Page, was a member of one of the pioneer families of Natchitoches Parish. She was the daughter of the late Luther and Mrs. Carrah Greer Page of Robeline, and lived at Robeline until the time of her marriage to Mr. Brewton. They lived at Goldonna until 1947, when they moved to Winnfield. She was active in religious and civic life here, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Eastern Star. She was past president of the Pilot Club of Winnfield, also past Worthy Matron of the Goldonna Eastern Star chapter. Survivors are her husband; a son, L. L. Brewton, Jr., of Winnfield; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. A. G. Lee of Dixie, Mrs. Lucille Olivier of Lafayette, Mrs. Curtis Dufour of Natchitoches; two nieces and one nephew.
