All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 17, 1970 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American James Brewton Killed In Fiery Wreck Tuesday James Brewton, 60, son of Mrs. Carmie Brewton of Goldonna, and brother of Latnie Brewton of Winnfield, was killed in a fiery collision between his car and a loaded gasoline truck on U. S. Hwy. 71 about 25 miles south of Bossier City. State police said Brewton died in the wreckage of his car which was destroyed by fire. The driver of the truck was W. Al Dogget, 39, of Homer, although thrown through the windshield of the truck by impact, escaped with minor injuries. The accident occurred on a curve, State Police said when the car struck the truck, the truck exploded and then rolled to the side of the road. Brewton was pinned in his car which was destroyed. Last rites had not been announced as The Enterprise went to press. Mr. Brewton is survived by his wife and one daughter; his mother of Goldonna; two brothers, Latnie of Winnfield and Hershel of Lafayette; two sisters, his twin, Mrs. S. B. Riser of Goldonna, and Mrs. Eric Brown of Tullos.
