Brian, wife of Dr. F. N. Brian. Deceased was born in Winn Parish, La., Dec. 7th, 1862 and at the time of her death was 23 years 7 months and 8 days of age. She was the first daughter of Mr. Wm. Dickerson, was married to Dr. F. N. Brian Dec. 25, 1882, and was a model wife and very much devoted to her husband. She for many years had professed faith in Jesus Christ as her savior, was a consistent and useful member in the Winnfield Baptist Church, was ever at her post of duty, and ready to help the poor and weak. In her death the Church loses a member, whose place will be hard to fill, society has lost a jewel, and her husband has lost a companion indeed. It is hard to part with one, who was so dearly loved, but when we come to think of this cold heartless world in comparison with that world beyond, whither our Savior has gone, and where all the dear ones who have loved and served him here, can be with him evermore, and also that she departed thence with a living faith in her Savior, our grief is made consolable, for our loss is her eternal gain. "She sleeps beneath her native earth, And near the spot, that gave her birth. Her youthful feet trod flowers that bloom, In beauty o'er her early tomb. She rests beneath her native earth. With grateful hearts we'll slug her worth; Her gentle ways shall ever dwell, In hearts that knew and loved her well. And oft we'll lift the tearful eye, To hear her calling from the sky, O! How could we her absence hear, But that we hope to meet her there." That our faith may be like hers and that we may leave our life as unspotted behind us, when we come to cross the cold Jordan of death is the wish of a FRIEND.
