Brinkley Dies at Gonzales After Very Long Illness Mrs. Lula Brinkley, 54, died at 11:15 p.m. Friday night, Jan. 12th, at her home in Gonzales following an extended illness. She was the wife of M. Brinkley, of Gonzales, and mother of Walker Brinkley of the Baton Rouge police force, and Roy Brinkley of the fire department of Baton Rouge. Another son, J. B. Brinkley, two daughters, Mrs. A. B. Banker, of Baton Rouge, and Miss Jessie Brinkley of Gonzales. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. W. H. Henderson, and sister, Mrs. Cora Allen, of Atlanta. Mrs. Brinkley was a native of Texas. She resided in Baton Rouge from 1920 until two years ago when she moved to Gonzales. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. Brief funeral services were held at the Rabenhorst Funeral Home Saturday at 11 a.m. Dr. J. Norris Palmer officiated, after which the body was shipped over the L. & A. railway to Atlanta where funeral services were conducted by Mr. B. F. Billings in the Methodist Church and the body laid to rest in the Atlanta Cemetery.
