Paul Johnson officiating. Burial was held at Sikes Cemetery at 4 p.m. Mr. Brister died Friday, July 14, 1972 at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston after a short illness. Mr. Brister, a native of Sikes, was a retired lumberman and a member of First Baptist Church of Choudrant. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Yancy Brister of Choudrant; six sons, Lewis Brister and Arshal Lee Brister, both of West Monroe, Stanley R. Brister of Monroe, Homer D. Brister of Bastrop, Bobby C. Brister and W. E. "Pete" Brister, both of Choudrant; three daughters, Mrs. Vetoile Gates of Urania, Mrs. Virginia Savage of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Audra Fay Pesnell of Choudrant; four brothers, Houston Brister of Sieper, Lawson Brister of Quitman, J. W. Brister of Boyce, and Carl Brister of West Monroe; five sisters, Mrs. Emaline Willis of Sikes, Mrs. Jettie Hahan of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Ellen Waldon of Boyce, Mrs. Eva Dyess and Mrs. Loraine Gray, both of Alexandria; 27 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
