Branch, 64, Winnfield city clerk for the past two years, died suddenly from a heart attack at his home on East Lafayette Tuesday about 6:30 a.m. He was eating breakfast when stricken and died before medical assistance could be secured. Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. P. M. Caraway officiating, assisted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb and Rev. Alwin Stokes. Burial was in Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Branch was a native of Gaars Mill community where he was a member of the Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I. He was in the timber and tie business and before becoming Winnfield city clerk, was an inspector with the State Highway department. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Branch of Winnfield; one daughter, Thelma Lowice Branch, New York City; two brothers, Mack L., of Winnfield and Wright of Jonesboro; one sister, Mrs. J. L. Tugwell, Winnfield; three half brothers, L. L. Lee, Dodson; J. J. Lee, Winnfield; and C. C. Lee, Monroe. Pallbearers were Mayor D. C. Allen, Dr. A. W. Radescich, Robert Heard, Bob Reinhard, Joe Bevill, James G. Russell, Jr., and M. T. Crowe.
