All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 8, 1948 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites For Marion Brinkley Held At Atlanta Last rites were held for Marion Brinkley, 69, of Atlanta, at the Atlanta Methodist Church at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, April 6, with the Rev. T. A. Brown, Atlanta Methodist pastor, and Rev. Alwin Stokes of Winnfield officiating. Burial was in Atlanta Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Masonic rites were held at the grave. Mr. Brinkley, retired former employee of the L. R. & N. Railway, died at his home at Atlanta on Monday, April 5, after an extended illness. He was employed as a railroad engineer until his retirement eight years ago. Since that time he had made his home at Atlanta. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 284 of Groveton, Texas. Surviving are his widow; three sons, W. W. and M. R. Brinkley of Baton Rouge, and J. B. Brinkley of Jackson, Miss., and one daughter, Mrs. B. J. Bourgeois of Gonzales, La. He is survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
