C. Brooks Falls Dead On Main Street While Enroute To Doctor J. C. Brooks, local railroad man, suffered a heart attack on Main Street while enroute to a doctor Tuesday night, and died a few minutes later in Fletcher's Filling Station, where he was taken when he was stricken. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church Thursday morning at 10:30 with Rev. G. A. Morgan officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes and Dr. B. C. Land. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Active pallbearers were B. H. Williams, L. H. Smith, H. L. DeBray, A. L. Smith, D. L. Page, L. Rickerson, W. L. Hunt, J. T. DeLoach, H. Ward, D. R. Aydelotte, and K. M. Deason. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Milam, Mr. Dean, W. J. Buchanan, Ray Eagles, W. C. Colvin, E. O. Sappington, Leslie Sheppard, Paul Aydelotte, Arthur Aydelotte, C. M. Sanders, George Hightower, Joe Terrell, Bob Thomas, Larkin Thomas, Harper Terrell, Dick Porter, Houston Gates, Ebb Machen, J. E. Carter, Bryant Sholars, Johnnie Wright, Jimmie Wright, Charles Walsworth, John Peters, Mack L. Branch, N. M. Jackson, Dr. F. C. Fittz, Dr. J. F. Faith, Henry Willis, J. R. Heard, Albert Nugent, B. L. Anderson, and Waco Grigsby. Mr. Brooks was born July 11, 1885 in Quitman, La., and was 52 years old at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Florence Sizemore of Quitman, December 11, 1911. He had been residing in Winnfield for the past thirty years. He had had 32 years of railroad service, 21 years of which had been with the Rock Island Railroad. Other organizations of which he was a member were the Brotherhood of Clerks of Railroads and the Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Edgar Taylor, and two sons, J. C. Brooks, Jr., and Morris Brooks, all of Winnfield; 5 brothers, J. W. Brooks, of Ruston; Lambert and Hardy Brooks of Quitman and Don U. Waldrip of Quitman; and six sisters, Mrs. Lula White, Mrs. Monroe Thomas, and Mrs. Cora Redwine of Ansley; Mrs. Clyde Barnett of Dubach; Mrs. Susie Childers of California; and Mrs. Maxie Towson of Chattanooga, Tenn.
