Father of J. C. Brooks Dies at Quitman, La.

J. W. Brooks, 83 years of age, died at his home near Quitman, La., Wednesday
night, January 16, 1934 following an illness with pneumonia.  Funeral services
were held Thursday with a large concourse of relatives and friends attending
and many flowers attesting to the esteem in which he was held.

The deceased is the father of Mr. J. C. Brooks of Winnfield.  He was a
lifelong resident of Jackson Parish.  Surviving is the widow, six sons and
four daughters, a host of grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
