H. Brewton of Goldonna Well Known Merchant is Buried Sunday Afternoon J. H. Brewton, 65, of Goldonna, Natchitoches Parish, merchant and church leader, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eric Brown, in Alexandria, at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 1939. Mr. Brewton was well known in his community and in Winn Parish as a merchant, lifetime member of the Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and civic leader. Funeral services were held at the Goldonna Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. Charles Freeman, pastor, in charge. Interment was in the Goldonna Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield. Pallbearers were Cleve Quarles, Carl Reed, Leon Reed, Jack Easley, A. H. Plummer, and S. S. Whitner. The deceased is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Brown of Alexandria and Mrs. Belton Riser of Goldonna; three sons, Latnie Brewton of Goldonna, Irah Brewton of Shreveport, and Hershel Brewton of Bunkie; two sisters, Mrs. S. S. Whitner of Goldonna, and Mrs. R. N. Terrell of Mansfield; two brothers, Walter Brewton of Jena and Edwin Brewton of Goldonna.
