Bernstein Is Buried In Monroe Tuesday, March 10 Funeral services for Rudolph "Boots" Bernstein, retired claim agent for the Missouri Pacific Lines, who died in a Monroe hospital Monday, March 8, 1948, were held in the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Monroe, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., with Rabbi F. K. Hirsch officiating. Interment was in the Jewish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alvin Hahn, Jack Wallace, Ben Sharkey, all of Winnfield, Max Roby of Jonesboro, and Allen Sugar, Bill Thurmon, and Fred Pettit, all of Monroe. Mr. Bernstein, a native of Winnfield, had returned to Winnfield to make his home about five years ago, after residing in Monroe for many years. He was carried to a Monroe hospital several weeks ago when he became ill. Mr. Bernstein is survived by an only daughter, Mrs. Maurice Roby of Newellton, La.; a sister, Miss Nettie Bernstein, Winnfield; a grandson, Irving P. Roby; a niece, Mrs. F. M. "Bill" Goldsmith; and two nephews, A. Milling Bernstein and Henry Bernstein, Jr., all of Monroe. The late Mayor Arnold Bernstein of Monroe was a brother.
