Buchanan Is Buried At Gansville The funeral of Mrs. Mary E. Buchanan, which was held at the old Siloam Church at Gansville, six miles west of Dodson, Friday, May 10, was very largely attended. Mrs. Buchanan was born in Alabama, but came to Louisiana at the age of 4, where here parents settled in Union Parish, later coming to Winn, living for many years in the vicinity of Gansville. She died on Thursday, May 9, at the home of her son, R. M. Buchanan, at Pineville, and was brought to the old home burying ground for interment. She was a member of the Baptist Church, but owing to absence of the Baptist pastor, Dr. Stephen B. Williams of Winnfield, conducted the services. Mrs. Buchanan leaves a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her passing. One brother, Marion C. Bagwell, still lives near Gansville. She leaves 11 living children: J. W. Buchanan of Palestine, Tx., R. M. Buchanan of Pineville; Mrs. S. C. Franklin of Ruston; Mrs. J. C. Holsomnack (Holsomback, Holsombeck?) of Wyatt; Mrs. P. Wright, of Crowville; E. M. Buchanan of Dodson; Mrs. T. M. Bryant of Pineville; Mrs. S. J. Moreland, of California; Mrs. R. D. Times of Salinetown (Saline, La.), Mrs. Ruby Pettis of Gallion; and one child dead, a Mrs. Cynthia Mixon. There are 55 grandchildren living, and quite a number of great grandchildren. One of her daughters, Mrs. Bryant, is the wife of a Baptist minister. The members of the family have requested the Enterprise to express their thanks to the many friends who comforted and assisted them in this hour of bereavement.
