H. Buchanan, 66, died at her home in Winnfield Sunday, September 22, 1946, following an illness. Funeral services, held at Gansville Monday, at 3 p.m., were conducted by the Rev. H. J. Mott, pastor of Laurel Heights Baptist Church. Assisting were Rev. Harold Rutledge of Winnfield and Rev. J. G. L. Brown of Alexandria. Burial was under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were David Mixon, Claud Mixon, Alton Mixon, Jessie Sandifer, L. E. Boyett, and Henry Stinson. A native of Winn Parish, Mrs. Buchanan was the former Miss Mary Elizabeth Parsons. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Gansville in which community she lived most of her life. For the past eight years she had been a resident of Winnfield. Surviving are her husband, E. H. Buchanan of Winnfield; five sons and six daughters: Robert L., E. J., Arnold L., and Odie, of Winnfield; Eugene of Montgomery; Mrs. Pearl Holcomb and Mrs. Clyde Jones, Winnfield; Mrs. Susie Williams, Verda; Mrs. E. O. Williams, Dry Prong; Mrs. Odis Jones, Montgomery; Mrs. Berrie Barton, Miss. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
