The car containing the body was found by two Montgomery residents in about 12 feet of water in a bar pit a mile and a quarter east of Montgomery. George Evans of Montgomery noticed an oil slick on the water, which led to the recovery, according to Morgan. The body was sent to Shreveport for an autopsy, Winn Parish Sheriff R. S. Jordan said. The death was investigated by Winn and Grant Parish authorities along with state police. According to Morgan, Evans called state police and workers of the Louisiana Department of Highways to the site Saturday when he first noticed the oil slick, but nothing was found. The bar pit had been investigated earlier in connection with damage to the bridge across the pit. Morgan said, however, the damage was done before Bundrick's disappearance. Evans returned to the pit about 5 p.m. Sunday with Terry Murphy, 24, of Montgomery, who found the car under water. Morgan said it appeared the car entered the bar pit from the east (from the Winnfield side). Slight damage was done to the front end when the car hit an old bridge piling in the water, Morgan said. Bundrick was the subject of a statewide search after his wife reported him missing in mid-January. The Winn Parish Sheriff's Office had checked out several leads, but came up with no results. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the chapel of Southern Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. C. C. Martin. Burial is in Garden of Memories in Winnfield. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie L. Bundrick; a son, Charles Bundrick, Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Misses Margaret Ann and Linda Gail Bundrick, both of Winnfield; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Bundrick, Calvin; a brother, Rayford Bundrick, Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Gracie Little and Mrs. Edna Powell, both of Winnfield, and Mrs. Ida Mae Myers, Baton Rouge; and three grandchildren.
