Last Rites For I. I. Burnett Friday at 2 P. M. Last rites for I. I. Burnett, 71, well known farmer of the Gaars Mill community, who died at a local hospital Wednesday night following an illness of several years, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church near Gaars Mill. The Rev. Clovis Cole, pastor, and the Rev. L. J. Stotts will officiate. Burial will be in Friendship cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Burnett was a native of the Friendship Community and was a member of the Friendship church. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Clarence of Winnfield; Grady of Dodson; Ivy of Camden, Ark; Harvey of Liberty, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Doyle Jones, West Monroe, Mrs. Willie Frazier, Goldonna; Mrs. Roma Manasco, Hattiesbury, Miss; Mrs. Walter Avera, Sarepta; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Miller, Clinton, La. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. (Note: I. I. Burnett was the son of Martin Burnett and Sarah Adline Davis, and grandson of Jeremiah Burnett of Winn and Jackson parishes. He was born 23 June 1883, and died 15 Dec. 1954. He married Mary Lou Boyd, 3 Jan. 1904. In order of birth, their children were David Clarence, Melissa L. , Martin Grady, Alma Jane, Ila Ann, Harvey Hilton, Zula Olga, James Ivy, and Nola Elizabeth. I am a grandson of I. I. Burnett, and except for deleting the "e" on the end of "Burnette", I have maintained the original spelling and punctuation of his obituary.)
