WINN PARISH BOY IS LOST AT SEA THOMAS LOFTON BURNETT DISAPPEARED FROM LYKES LINER HYBERT ON JULY 2 Winnfield. --- Thomas Lofton Burnett, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.N. Burnett of Gaar;s Mil, mysteriously disappeared from the Lykes Bros Steamship Co.'s ship S.S. Hybert at sea on the night of July 2. Young Burnett was an employee of the Lykes Bros. Steamship co and the company has advised his parents that all efforts to clear up the mystery of his disappearance have been unsuccessful. It is not know here where the ship was sailing at the time of Burnett's disappearance. The steamship company advised that they will furnish detailed information to the young man's parents as soon as possible, covering every angle of the case. Congressman A. Leonard Allen has asked for a full investigation. About six weeks ago young Burnett wrote his parents from Honolulu that he was planning a trip to the Far East. This was the last they heard from him until notified by the steamship company that he had disappeared at sea on July 2. Prior to service with the Lykes Brothers, Burnett was employed by The United States maritime commission and by the United Fruit Co. His father, T.N. Burnett, for many years has been Winn parish rural circulation agent for a Shreveport newspaper. --------------------------------------*note: This is still a mystery as to what really happened.
