OBITUARIES

Services for Odus J. Birch were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Montgomery Chapen
with the Revs. Roy Moore and Charles Harlan officiating.  Burial was in Mt.
Zion Cemetery under direction of Blanchard-St. Denis, Natchitoches.

Birch, 77, of Montgomery, died at 9:47 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 1986 in
Alexandria Veterans Administration Medical Center. 

He was a veteran of World War II.  He was a native of Montgomery and a member
of New Salem Baptist Church, Crews.  He was a retired carpenter.  

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Plunkett Birch of Montgomery; one son, Gerald
Thomas Birch of Lake Charles; one daughter, Ann Lanclos of Alexandria; two
sisters, Neva Pearce and Johnnie Oungst, both of Alexandria; one brother,
Wallace Birch of Alexandria; and three grandchildren.
