W. O. Burgess, 91, Died Here Friday Morning, July 11

Funeral services for William Oliver Burgess, 91, a resident of Winnfield for
the past two years, were held at the Old Castor Church, in Bienville Parish,
Saturday afternoon, July 12, with the Rev. C. M. Robinson of Winnfield
officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Burgess had lived in Laurel Heights with his daughter, Mrs. J. H.
Singleton, for the past two years.  He died at his daughter's home of natural
causes about 9 o'clock Friday morning, July 11.

Surviving are three sons, E. H. Burgess of Dallas, Texas, W. C. Burgess of
Marthaville, La., and M. L. Burgess of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. H.
L. Singleton of Winnfield and Mrs. Fred Eldridge of Houston; 17 grandchildren
and 15 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by a number of other
relatives.
