All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 3, 1925 Winn Parish Enterprise Willie Earnest Burke Died at his home near Winnfield, La., on November 26th, Willie Earnest Burke, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Burke, age 18 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was born in Bienville, La. but shortly after his birth his parents moved to Winnfield where they still reside. He joined the Baptist Church while young being 11 years old and had lived a Christian life till God called him home to Glory. Earnest while bathing on the 26th day of April last was hit on his head by a raft causing an abscess to form on the brain. Two weeks later he was carried to the Baptist Sanitarium in Alexandria where he underwent seven operations staying there 5 months after which he was carried to New Orleans, but nothing could be done. During his long suffering he never complained, everything was all right with him, he always had a smile for everyone. He was laid to rest in the Corinth Cemetery Saturday at 11:00 o'clock, the funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. H. Lewis. Earnest will be greatly missed in his community as he always met everyone with a good word and a smile. He is gone but not forgotten. He leaves his father and mother, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
