W. Burnum Civil War Veteran Dies At Jena August 29 Civil War Veteran is Buried at Gansville Thursday William W. Burnam, 87-year old Civil War Veteran and long time resident of Winn Parish, died at the home of his son, C. W. Burnum near Jena at 4 p. m. Wednesday. Mr. Burnum, though old, was in perfect health until about four weeks ago when he became ill. Funeral services were held at Gansville at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. M. Doty of Tullos and Rev. R. B. Kitchenham of Dodson officiating. Mr. Burnum, a member of the Baptist Church and a resident of Winn Parish for many years, had many friends both in the church and throughout the parish. He is the last of his generation of the family. The deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. H. E. Machen, Winnfield; Mrs. T. E. Allen, Dodson; Mrs. C. A. Smith, Forest; Mrs. W. N. Taylor, Dodson; Mrs. Jesse Temple, Dodson; Mrs. G. C.
