All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 2, 1956 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Joe Butts Buried At Bethlehem Saturday, Sept. 29 Final rites for Joe Bevill Butts, 23, who died in a local hospital at __ a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 1956, after more than a year of illness, were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Calvin Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Langford, the Rev. W. R. Gage, and the Rev. W. C. Hall officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Bruce Parker, J. T. Guilliams, Billy Jones, Arlon Weeks, Guy Bevill, Jr., and A. D. Abels. Born and reared in Winnfield, Joe, after leaving high school here, had been employed in the oil field in Jennings, La., prior to his illness. His wife is the former Miss Carlene Weeks of Goldonna. Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Carolyn Sue and Jennie Diann, Goldonna; his mother, Mrs. Phillip Butts, Winnfield; five sisters, Miss Ann Butts and Mrs. Virginia Lasswell, both of Shreveport; Mrs. Bruce Parker, Bossier City; Mrs. W. B. Jones, Raceland, La.; Mrs. J. T. Guilliams, Port Lavaca, Texas.
