All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 9, 1947 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Held For Phillip Butts Saturday, Jan. 4 Phillip Isaac Butts, 62, died at his home in Winnfield Thursday, January 2, after an illness of several years. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church with the pastor, Rev. Alwin Stokes, officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were J. P. Warren, Charlie Bright, H. F. Hicks, Al Dowden, J. E. Gassiott, and Morris Shaw. Born in Colfax, January 19, 1915, Mr. Butts married Miss Ruth Bevill of Winn Parish July 7, 1915. They moved to Winnfield to make their home 26 years ago when Mr. Butts became connected with the T. & G. Railway machine shops, with which firm he remained until his death. Because of ill health he had been unable to work since last September. Mr. and Mrs. Butts were the parents of seven children all of whom survive with the exception of the oldest son, Willis, who lost his life in France during the recent war. Surviving are his wife and the following children of Winnfield: Billie Ruth, Marie, Joe Bevill, and Lois Annette; two daughters, of Shreveport, Virginia and Jean; two brothers, J. W. Butts of Hargis and T. E. Butts of Epps, La.; and one granddaughter, Ruth Anna Butts of Dallas, Texas. Out of town relatives and friends attending the last rites were Charles Mathis, Mooringsport; Mrs. Pallie Thomas, Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Butts and Edward Butts of Epps, La.; Jim Butts and son, C. E., of Montgomery; Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Hamrick of Verda; and Mrs. Lois Butts and daughter, Ruth Ann, of Dallas.
