Willis Butts Killed In France On November 29th Entered Service August 1943; Went Overseas In February Pfc. Willis Butts, age 28, was killed in France on November 29, according to a message received here by his wife, the former Miss Lois Hicks and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Butts, from the U. S. War Department on last Friday. Pfc. Butts entered the service of the United States infantry in August 1943, and after training at For McClellan, Ala., was transferred to Fort Meade, Md., from where he was sent overseas in February this year. Surviving him are his wife and one 19th month old daughter, Ruth Ann; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Butts; one brother, Joe B. Butts; five sisters, Mrs. Virginia Lasswell, Misses Alma Jean, Billie Ruth, Agnes, and Lois Annette Butts of Winnfield. Before entering service Pfc. Butts was employed by the Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation at Jackson, Miss.
