Byrnes Dies In Houston Robert C. Byrnes, 60, died in Houston, Texas early Wednesday, July 7, 1976 following heart surgery 11 days ago. While funeral arrangements are incomplete, members of the family said that the remains would be brought to Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield and that final rites would take place some time Friday with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mr. Byrnes was retired five years ago following a heart attack. He was owner and manager of Winn Motor Company in Winnfield up until his illness, having assumed management following the death of his father, the late E. J. Byrnes, with whom he had been associated in the business. Mr. Byrnes was a member of the First Baptist Church and active in the Men's Sunday School Bible Class. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Winnfield & Trust Company, a former Rotarian and during World War II served in the Air Corps with the rank of Major. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Milam Byrnes; two daughters, Mrs. James (Helene) Walker of Winnfield and Mrs. Wayne (Lynn) Watson of Ruston; one grandchild, Rachel Walker; one sister, Mrs. Alma Cruse of Dallas; and one niece, Mrs. Sonya Carpenter of Houston. No. 2 Funeral Rites For R. C. Byrnes Held Friday Funeral services for Robert C. Byrnes, who died July 7, 1976, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial, under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield was in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Byrnes of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Helene Walker of Winnfield and Mrs. Lynn Watson of Ruston; one sister, Mrs. Alma Cruise of Houston; and one granddaughter. Pallbearers included Dick Heard, Robert Heard, Marvin Carraway, James Russell, Tommy Harrel, Jr., Dr. J. R. McElwee, L. L. Brewton, Sr., and Micky Simmons.
