Earl O. Bates, Sr.

Services for Earl O. Bates, Sr., were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of
Southern Funeral Home under direction of the Rev. Joe Owens.  Burial was
in Bethlehem Cemetery, Calvin.

Bates, 86, of Winnfield, died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 1991, in Humana
Hospital.

He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Verde Bates of Winnfield; two sons, Earl Bates,
Jr., and Roy Bates, both of Winnfield; two sisters, Ruth Key of Winnfield and
Clara Foster of Shreveport; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
