Burnett To Be Buried Friday At Friendship Final rites for Huey Floyd Burnett, 46, native of the Gaars Mill community, and well known Shreveport business man, who died in the Veteran's hospital, Shreveport, Wednesday night, will be conducted at the Friendship Baptist Church (Mineral Springs) Friday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. A Church of Christ minister will officiate. Mr. Burnett had been in ill health for several years. He was engaged in the oil and uranium business in Shreveport, Colorado and other cities. Born and reared at Gaars Mill, he was a graduate of the Gaars Mill High School and of Louisiana State University, was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Mrs Nell Burnett of Dallas, Texas; six sisters: Mrs. Lettie Gates, Winnfield, Mrs. Velma Womack, Dodson, Mrs. Nettie Windham, Mrs Bessie Sutton, and Mrs. Lucille Herbert, all of Shreveport, and Miss Elma Burnett of Pineville; two brothers: Rawson and Edison Burnett, both of Shreveport; and his mother, Mrs. T.N. Burnett, of Shreveport. (NOTE: Huey F. Burnett, b. 15 Sept. 1912, was the son of Thomas N. Burnett and Ella Nettie Campbell, and he was the grandson of Martin Burnett and Sarah Adline Davis. His great grandfather was Jeremiah Burnett, a Winn parish Civil War veteran.)
