C. Brooks, Sr. is Victim of Heart Attack on Tuesday Funeral Services Held on Thurs. Morning From Methodist Church J. C. Brooks, Sr., veteran railroad employee, succumbed to a heart attack Tuesday evening about seven forty-five o'clock while waiting for his son to complete work on the family car in a local garage, before going to see the doctor. He had been in failing health for sometime. Mr. Brooks came to Winnfield in 1906 as telegraph operator of the old L. R. & N. Co., and later became yard clerk for the Rock Island which position he has held for the past twenty years. He was a Woodman of the World. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Taylor, two sons, J. C. Brooks, Jr. and Morris Brooks of Winnfield; five brothers, J. W. Brooks, Lambert Brooks, Ruston; Hardy Brooks, Spencer Brooks, and half brother, Don Waldrip all of Quitman; five sisters, Mrs. Lula White, Quitman; Mrs. Monroe Thomas, Ansley; Mrs. Early Barnett, Dubach; Mrs. Maxey Tawson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Mrs. Suzie Chillon, Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services were held at eleven o'clock Thursday morning at the First Methodist church conducted by the Rev. G. A. Morgan, pastor, assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes and Dr. B. C. Land, other local pastors. Interment was made in the Winnfield cemetery. Active pall bearers were B. H. Williams, L. H. Smith, D. L. Page, L. Rickerson, W. L. Hunt, J. T. DeLoach, H. Ward, D. R. Adeylott. Honorary pall bearers included Mat Milam, K. M. Dean, E. J. Buchanan, Ray Eagles, W. C. Colvin, E. O. Sappington, Leslie Sheppard, Paul Adeylott, Arthur Adeylott, C.
