Two Winn men have been killed in Viet Nam. Goldonna Soldier Dies In Viet Nam Fighting A 21 year old Goldonna soldier who volunteered for Viet Nam where he could make extra time and shorten his hitch in the service, was killed May 15, less than two weeks after spending 30 days at home with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bootsie Bedgood received the dreaded telegram this week, telling them their son, James, had been killed during heavy fighting. Young Bedgood had spent a year with the Army in Viet Nam and came home counting the days when his last six months would be out. He decided to take the 2 for 1 day swap and return to Saigon so he could get out of the army in about three months. He bought a new car during his recent stay at home. Two of his letters arrived after the telegram telling of his death. In one of the letters, he spoke of "lying around" and having little to do, but the unpredictable turns of the war were to catch him as it has so many others. Bedgood was graduated from the Goldonna High School in 1964. His body will be flown there for funeral services. In addition to his parents, he leaves two sisters, Dianna and Bonnie, and two brothers, Preston and Terry, all of Goldonna.
