E. Banks, SR., Winn Native, Dies In Alexandria Tyre Edwin Banks, Sr., retired Alexandria businessman, sportsman, and civic leader, died Monday morning in an Alexandria hospital. He was 66. Mr. Banks was born in Winnfield and spent his early life here. For years prior to his retirement he managed the Colfax Lumber and Creosoting Company, and later the Hart Creosote Co., of Jasper, Texas. He was a former state treasurer and district vice president of the Louisiana Wildlife Federation and held numerous offices in civic organizations. Mr. Banks was a past district governor of Lions International and a Shriner. Last rites were conducted in Alexandria Tuesday with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Davis Banks; a son, Dr. T. E. Banks, Jr., Alexandria; a daughter, Marion Fresh, Alexandria; a brother, Melton Banks of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Butler of West Monroe and Mrs. Ola Chandler of Bossier City; and six grandchildren.
